Punch Buggy

Punch Buggy / Slug Bug / Punch Dub This post is for a popular car spotting game where players are looking for just one type of car, specifically Volkswagen Type 1, the Volkswagen Beetle, also know as the VW Beetle or Bug. The game is known as Punch Buggy, Slug Bug or Punch Dub. Although Punch Dub is a newer version of the game for all VW models (we'll get to this later).  Punch Buggy is a variant on the Yellow Car or Spotto game (well maybe Spotto is a variant of Punch Buggy, no one can be sure which came first). Players are typically rear seat passengers in a travelling vehicle. Players call out Punch Buggy and the colour of the car, i.e. Punch Buggy Blue, then "punch" the nearest passenger.  We will stop here quickly. It is important to note that in no way does True Review support violence, aggression or assault. Also True Review take no responsibility for any accident or injury that may occur. This "punch" should be considered a love tap, a light bump on the

Repco Bike Rack

Repco Smart Bike Rack

I purchased the 4-bike velcro bike rack on sale for around $50. Got it home to find that I had only purchased a 4-bike top section. I then had to go back to the store and get the A-frame base section which I did not realise was a separate item and then the store didn't even have any in stock.

Why sell the top section and not have any of the base sections available? Luckily the store-person found one at a nearby store and had it transferred. Very frustrating but now I have a bike rack for $100 that I thought would only cost $50 and is now further reduced to around $40 each ($80 total).

I understand that every now and then someone will want to change from a two bike, to a three bike, to a four bike rack, so I appreciated that these are individually sold but I'm sure that 95% of customers would be want the full kit (top and frame set) not just one or the other. It would be really nice if this was clearly detailed on the packaging, maybe some in-store posters to inform purchasers, or better yet, when you get to the counter having the attendant check your purchase. Hey, are up upgrading? If not, your going to need the frame as well, oh no, we don't have any in stock.

So, anyway, the bike rack does not really have any branding on the packaging but one of the instruction manuals, well it's not really a manual but more of a one page instruction sheet, has reference to Exego Group and the other has reference to GPC Asia Pacific. Both of these companies are actually the parent company for Repco. Repco has been through a few name changes and corporate takeovers. It started out as REplacement Parts COmpany (REPCO) and as it grew and opened more stores it evolved into Repco Group. After a couple of takeovers Repco Group was purchased by Exego Group and then by GPC Asia Pacific being a subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company (GPC) of America.

Positives

The bike rack is sold in individual pieces. This is great as you can purchase different top sections depending on the quantity of bikes to be transported. The install is very straight forward, as long as you have a tow ball on your vehicle. If you don't and your not planning on having one installed then this bike rack is definitely not for you. Bikes sit comfortably on the rack and can be strapped in tight. The rack and frame can be easily removed from the vehicle for storage and has a quick release pin to allow access into the boot.

Not so Positives, Negatives or things that annoy.

The bike rack is sold in individual pieces, so be careful and make sure you purchase the frame as well or you will be sorely disappointed. The proof for this product will be the test of time. Will it come loose over the next few months? Will the straps break?

Most importantly, open it up and make sure all the parts are there. If not, like me, you go to use it and find that the most important part, the quick release pin, is missing. This makes the entire bike rack unusable as the first bump you hit will mean your bikes are dragging on the ground behind you. I had to fix it with a permanent bolt, which means access to the boot is no longer possible.
